From Librarian to Library Trustee
My dream of running for Library Trustee began almost as soon as I left the Library. The old adage of “you can take the librarian out of the library, but you can’t take the library out of the librarian” proved true in my case. For 27 years I worked at the Public Library of Brookline. My first position in Brookline was as a Library Page, in the Brookline Village location, shelving books as a summer job. I loved it! I soon discovered that I could continue working past the summer, and fast forwarding a few years, I was promoted to Library Assistant I.
Library Assistant I led to Library Assistant II which led to Library Assistant III. I earned my Master’s in Library and Information Sciences at Simmons University. At the library I was promoted again to Reference Librarian - Periodicals and finally Librarian III: Putterham Branch Library Supervisor.
Over those years I worked at all three locations, Brookline Village, Coolidge Corner, and Putterham. I coordinated programs for every age from birth to older adulthood.
